Junky Obsession: J Crew Warehouse Sale
Last weekend Ashley, Reana and I traveled to Lynchburg for the J. Crew Warehouse Sale. I cant tell you how long we have been looking forward to this fantastic sale since it came to Richmond Virginia earlier this year. Needless to say, the 2 and a half hour drive was well worth it.
Once we arrived, we were greeted with a bag to place all of our goodies in with a list of discounted prices. Boxes and boxes of j crew flates ($20.00) , heels ($30.00) and boots ($50.00-$70.00) were ahead. As I turned to my right, there were boxes and boxes upon boxes of fabulous clothing. I was wondering how I was going to go through it all, but as they say "where there is a will there is a way". It was time to start shopping. I saw a young girl trying on a 100% cashmere polka dot sweater that was AMAZING. So I thought to myself, how can I commit the steal. I plotted and snagged the sweater (muhaaaaa) lol. All for the love of J Crew!!!!!!!!!! Will I do it again hmmmmm YES!!!!! So after a few hours went by, we took and break to grab a bite to eat, but headed straight back to the sale for round two. They were bringing out new boxes of clothes and shoes at least every 15-20 minutes and we were there front and center. Even the workers acknowledged that we had been there ALL day. Trust me there was no other place I wanted to be!!!!!!!! So I am now keeping my fingers crossed that the next sales is only a few months away.
Here are a few pieces that I have added to my J. Crew collection :

Junky Chic Peek: Kate Spade Saturday
When I received the email a couple of weeks ago, that Kate Spade New York was releasing the Kate Spade Saturday range I was intrigued and excited to say the least. After an hour of scouring the web; I wasn't able to find very much info about the said collection. Luckily, through recent findings I was able to find a boat load of info aout the new range.
This is a quote from CEO Craig Leavitt:
kate spade ny is going to be opening KATE SPADE SATURDAY in the US online and in stores in the spring. The products will be apparel and accessories, beauty, and home decor items. It will be much less expensive than the current kate spade brand and aimed at a younger more casual crowd. The average pricing for all the categories are expected to be: apparel ($90), eyewear ($55), fashion accessories ($40), handbags ($130), home ($25), jewelry ($30), shoes ($85), small goods ($45), swim ($50), tech ($30), and watches ($50). Junky Style Files: Birthday Vixen
This past Saturday, friends drove from Northern Virginia and Norfolk Virginia to celebrate my sister Reana's birthday. She is breaking into the fashion scene so Ashley and I thought it would be an AMAZING idea to expose her a little bit more. We just had to bring out her inner Vixen! Can we say "JUNKY MAKEOVER" (round 2).
We wanted to break her out of her comfort zone of "no make-up" and thought a bright red lipstick would be a great since it was her bday and all.We didn't use any foundation, just concealer to mask some blemishes and a very neutral eye.We decided to put her in a black pencil skirt that will show off her curves while still staying classy. We like to call it #subtlesexiness. On the top; a bustier to accentuate her small waist and all around beautiful figure. We decided to top it off with a faux leather biker jacket from Zara. Needless to say, she was getting complements ALL night long!!!
Outfit:
Biker Jacket: Zara (here)
Bustier (body shapewear): Nordstrom (similar here)
Black Pencil "bodycon" Skirt: (similar here)
Shoes: J Crew (here)
Clutch: The Limited (here)

Junky Organization: Closet Organization Tips
Living in the historical museum district of Richmond, Virginia has its benefits, but it also has its woes. The biggest issue; closet space is obsolete! I am constantly trying to find new and innovative ways to make the most of what I have. I have used my hallway closets, created shelves, stacked clothes on top of my armoire, and have placed baskets strategically in my room. I told myself, if I stop shopping then I won’t have this problem anymore, but needless to say, that isn’t realistic. So I used a few ideas that have helped me with my storage trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drawers, Drawers, Drawers!!! They are good for sectioning off jewelry or even makeup. It's a sleek and compact way to improve your space.

Baskets are great discretely tucking away folded clothes and small accessories. This aloows the pieces to be out of the way, but still easily accessable.
These simple yet effective storage tips have helped me, so I thought I pass them along to you.

Junky Epiphany: Ignore the Size on the Label (and 100th POST)
In general, we as fashion junkies, find gratification in the little things, and squeezing into a size 2 or 4 are nothing short of those "little things". We (I say "we" so I dont personally feel singled out) equate wiggling into that LBD, one size smaller a success, rather than grabbing the "right" size and fitting in it comfortably. It's these small wins that bring such great joy to our lives. However, Im not sure if you can call it a victory if jumping up and down, lying down on the bed, or recruiting a special guest to help you zip/button that size 4 is a part of the "sucess". Needless to say, if there is any kind of struggle to put it on, guess what??? You shouldn't be wearing it! Rather, we should find it gratifying to find that piece tailored to our body, and that feels custom made just for you (YES YOU).
Whether it be a size 4 or 14, you want to make sure that item fits you the way the designer intended or the way you imagined it in your head (minus the screaming shirt buttons and the tugging fabrics). Come to think of it, I rather my clothes fit me perfectly than to try and wedge myself in the last size 4 on the rack. I know we all have seen the lone clothing item on the rack, and it being one size smaller than what we would typically pick up, we shrug it off and buy it anyway. We buy it, not only because it is the last one, but because we might be able to make the size work. ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT! Just because you kinda sorta can make it work by putting a jacket over the partially zipped zipper (we are all guilty)you buy it! #STOPTHEFOOLERY PUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!! You dont have to get it. Its strange we would feel more confident in a dress that is a size smaller than we would if a dress actually fits you properly one size up.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Fashion Junkies slowly back away from the one size too small and find the size that is most flattering to your body even if that is a size 12. You're Welcome (you'll thank me later)!
